Regional-language OTT platform STAGE is producing what it claims is India's first biopic made entirely with artificial intelligence, centred on pre-Independence farmer leader and social reformer Sir Chhotu Ram. The company says AI has been deployed across the full production pipeline — including visualisation, character generation, voice, background score, and 3D scene creation — to recreate the historical period in which Chhotu Ram lived.
Co-founder and CEO Vinay Singhal framed the project as a rethink of filmmaking economics rather than a speed-up of existing workflows, arguing that AI can make storytelling viable for cultures and languages historically priced out of conventional production. The biopic is part of a broader AI-assisted content slate at STAGE that also includes titles such as "Daud," "Kailasham," and the "Jai Hanuman" series. Founded in 2019 with a focus on Haryanvi content, STAGE has since expanded into Rajasthani, Bhojpuri, Gujarati, Marathi, Bengali, and Hindi markets.
