Prismix Studios CEO Vatsal Sheth on AI Filmmaking, "Happy Birthday Joshi," and Training AI Artists

At the Cypher 2026 conference, AIM's Mohit Pandey spoke with Vatsal Sheth, Co-Founder and CEO of Prismix Studios, about the Indian studio's approach to AI-assisted filmmaking. Sheth described AI as simply the next essential production tool — no different in principle from VFX or computers — and explained how backing from actor Ajay Devgn helped launch what he called one of India's largest AI studios.

Sheth walked through the making of "Happy Birthday Joshi," Prismix's debut AI short film, noting that AI enabled the project to bypass traditional production gatekeepers that would otherwise have blocked a low-budget short. He also discussed the in-house curriculum Prismix built to train AI artists, the studio's decision to build on existing models rather than develop its own, and where human involvement remains non-negotiable: scripts, music composition, and ethical usage.
