On October 15–16, 2026, a crawler identifying itself as "trellis2-data-sourcing/1.0" and linked to a Roblox researcher's email address swept through nearly the entire catalogues of Open3DLab, SFMLab, and SmutBase, reading 18,926 project pages and downloading 1,027 files totalling 145.5 GB. The operators say the crawler retrieved their robots.txt file but ignored it, violated their Terms of Service prohibiting scraping, and disregarded creator licenses — 423 of the 712 affected projects are licensed for non-commercial use only. Roughly 62.6 GB of the downloaded content came from projects flagged as adult material, including models from commercial titles such as Stellar Blade and Overwatch.

The site operators detected and blocked the crawler on October 18 and sent two unanswered emails to the Roblox contact address embedded in the user agent. The scraper returned on October 19 and 20 before going quiet. Based on public records, the operators believe the data was gathered for Roblox's "Cube" 3D foundation model program, which the company has been developing since at least early 2025 and which previously drew on licensed datasets and opt-in assets from its own Creator Store. Roblox has not publicly responded to the allegations.
