Reservoir Sues Suno and Anthropic for Alleged Infringement of Over 1,050 Songs
about 10 hours ago
Music rights company Reservoir has filed separate lawsuits against AI music-generation platform Suno and AI company Anthropic, alleging copyright infringement of more than 1,050 songs. The affected catalog includes works by major artists such as Joni Mitchell, Johnny Cash, and Madonna. Both suits were filed in the same court on the same day.
The legal action adds to a growing wave of copyright litigation targeting generative AI companies over their use of protected creative works in model training. For the music industry, the Reservoir suits represent one of the largest catalog-based infringement claims against AI developers to date.
