World Labs Releases Atlas Camera Studio, an Open-Source Tool for Turning Still Images into Camera-Controlled Video

Atlas Camera Studio is an open-source web application built on World Labs' Marble 5 API that converts a single still image into a four-second, camera-controlled MP4 video. Users upload a photo, reconstruct its depth, define a camera path in an interactive editor, and queue a generation — the app handles depth estimation, camera math, and local MP4 encoding via FFmpeg. The project originated from a camera-trajectory editor created by World Labs researcher Gowthami Somepalli.
The tool can be run locally with a user-supplied API key or accessed via a hosted demo that adds Clerk phone verification and Stripe-based credit packs. A no-signup "Explore" mode lets anyone test camera path editing on a bundled igloo scene without consuming API credits. World Labs is currently operating the underlying API in beta, with access available via a waitlist.
