Sony Future Filmmaker Awards 2027 Adds Immersive Category, Presented by Meta

Now in its fifth year, the Sony Future Filmmaker Awards has expanded its 2027 program with a new Immersive category, presented by Meta. The category welcomes short films shot in 3D, 180°, and 360° video formats across any genre — fiction or non-fiction, live-action or animation — giving filmmakers a dedicated platform to explore experiential storytelling. The awards now span six categories in total.

Shortlisted filmmakers will be flown to Los Angeles for a four-day industry program at Sony Pictures Studios in Culver City, running June 7–10, 2027, and culminating in a gala ceremony. Sessions led by Sony Pictures executives will cover production, acquisition, press, technology, animation, and sound.
