Sinima, a new video hosting platform co-founded by a former Vimeo VP, has launched out of beta with a focus on what it calls "creative ownership." Beyond standard hosting features, the platform assigns each upload a unique digital fingerprint and an ownership certificate with a publicly verifiable link, recording consent and provenance data in C2PA-format manifests — giving filmmakers a documented record of their rights.

The platform's central pitch is a two-sided marketplace for AI training data: creators can set their own AI licensing permissions, and when footage is licensed for AI training, Sinima takes a 15% commission while creators keep 85%. The company's current rate card values rights-cleared footage at $4,000–$7,500 per hour, translating to $3,400–$6,375 per hour going directly to the creator.
