A secretive coalition of Hollywood filmmakers, executives, and actors has been quietly meeting with Silicon Valley leaders since November 2023 to work out where AI belongs in a human-led creative process. First convened by LucasFilm, the group has spent three years developing a framework for appropriate AI use in production — one that keeps creative control firmly in human hands.

The effort reflects growing urgency within the industry to get ahead of AI adoption on its own terms, rather than having technology imposed from outside. By bringing together creatives and tech leaders in private, the group appears to be seeking consensus before any public or regulatory pressure forces the issue.
