At Microsoft Build 2026, Microsoft announced the integration of Hugging Face models into its Foundry Managed Compute platform — a curated, weekly-refreshed catalog of open-weight models deployable in one click onto managed GPUs. Model weights are pre-staged in Azure, runtimes are built and scanned by Microsoft, and every model ships with the same enterprise security, governance, observability, and billing as other models on Foundry.
The launch positions Foundry Managed Compute as a third deployment option alongside pay-per-token and provisioned throughput, allowing developers to specify model requirements by parameter count, context length, and latency or throughput preference while Microsoft manages the underlying GPU topology and infrastructure. Open-source models from the Hugging Face catalog integrate with Foundry Agents on equal footing with frontier models, enabling mixed-model deployments through a single endpoint and unified SDK.
