Kling Overtakes Runway in AI Video Revenue and Clip-Length Capabilities
Kling has pulled ahead of Runway in both commercial scale and core video-generation performance. The Chinese platform, backed by Kuaishou, is running at an annualized revenue pace above $479 million — roughly 2.4 times Runway's reported $200 million ARR — after a fivefold revenue increase between March 2025 and March 2026. On independent benchmarks, Kling 3.0 leads Runway Gen-4.5 by an average of about 25 Elo points across three Artificial Analysis snapshots, a meaningful but not decisive gap. The more concrete technical differentiator is clip length: Kling 4.0 generates up to 30 seconds of native video versus Runway's 10-second ceiling, giving filmmakers more room to produce continuous cinematic scenes without stitching.
Runway is not out of the race. Its production ecosystem — including tools like Aleph and Act-Two, professional export formats, and footage-editing workflows — addresses needs that text-to-video benchmarks don't capture. Enterprise net revenue retention above 300% signals that business customers are significantly expanding spend. Perhaps most notably, Runway now distributes Kling models through its own developer API, positioning itself as a potential multi-model AI video infrastructure provider rather than a pure model competitor. The next test will be whether Runway's enterprise strategy and editing depth can close a revenue gap that Kling is still actively widening.
