Khosla Ventures-Backed AI Music Company GRAI Acquires Social Platform Hangout

GRAI, an AI music company backed by Khosla Ventures, has acquired Hangout, a social music platform that launched in November 2024 with a catalog of over 100 million licensed tracks. Hangout's library was built through licensing deals with Sony Music Entertainment, Universal Music Group, Warner Music Group, and Merlin.

The acquisition brings GRAI a ready-made, major-label-licensed music catalog alongside Hangout's social listening infrastructure — a combination that could accelerate GRAI's push into AI-driven music experiences with legitimate rights clearances already in place.
