The five-minute video by creator Nem Perez took the $100,000 first-place prize, but reviewers note glaring technical failures: the Cyclops Polyphemus is depicted with three eyes, characters shift wildly in scale between cuts, and Roman legionnaire armor appears on Greek soldiers. Poseidon and other figures reportedly look like mobile game assets, while fight scenes are edited to obscure moments of impact — a workaround familiar from low-budget live-action productions.

Beyond individual errors, the piece illustrates a structural problem facing AI video at large: individual clips that look passable in isolation fail to cohere into a consistent, unified narrative. Perez himself described it as "The Odyssey as Homer intended" and his "most intricate work to date." Musk, who launched the contest in response to Christopher Nolan's live-action Odyssey adaptation, has not publicly acknowledged the winning entry.
