Image-Line has released FL Studio 2026 as a free update for all existing users under its Lifetime Free Updates policy. The release introduces Gopher, an agentic AI assistant designed to automate workflow tasks, alongside a significantly rebuilt FLEX instrument plugin — the first major overhaul since its 2019 debut — featuring deeper sound browsing, advanced filters, a more efficient CPU engine, and eight new free Core Series sound packs totalling over 200 presets. A new Transmitter plugin and expanded Loop Starter library also ship with the update.
The update adds FL Cloud Project Backup, which automatically saves projects to encrypted cloud storage with each save, spanning 500 MB on the free tier up to 1 TB on the Pro plan. Image-Line explicitly states that backed-up data is never used to train AI models — a notable privacy assurance as AI training on user content becomes a growing concern across creative software. CEO Constantin Koehncke framed the release around reducing friction in the creative process.
