Developer Eric Venti has released Sun Direction LoRA v1, a fine-tuned adapter for Black Forest Labs' Flux 2 Klein 9B model that gives artists precise control over sun position in exterior images. Using a sphere reference image to specify light direction, the LoRA allows users to set sun elevation and rotation angle relative to the camera — with a companion Sphere Light Render Node for ComfyUI making it easier to define the target lighting setup. The workflow requires an overcast base image (or generates one automatically) before applying the directional light, and Venti notes the approach is well-suited to timelapse sequences using a fixed seed to reduce flicker.

Venti describes this as an early release, with a v2 already in development that aims to eliminate the intermediate overcast step and add controls for light hardness, color, and intensity. The LoRA is trained exclusively on exterior imagery, so interior scenes are explicitly out of scope for now. A Blender scene file is also provided for users who want to render custom sphere reference images without the ComfyUI node.
