Clear Angle Studios, the preferred 3D/4D scanning partner for Disney, Universal, and Netflix, has unveiled the Volumetric Capture Rig (VCR) — its first purpose-built system for dynamic 4D Gaussian splat capture. Described as the "culmination of 13 years of innovation," the modular rig can be configured for applications ranging from close-up facial capture to full crowd volumetric performance spaces, delivering photoreal dynamic assets that VFX teams can place and re-light inside CG environments.

The company says the Gaussian splat workflow requires significantly fewer post-production hours than traditional geometry-based pipelines, directly reducing costs for VFX productions. As audience tolerance for digital inconsistencies shrinks, the VCR is positioned to meet growing demand for believable digital performances on tight schedules — a proposition likely to draw attention from both high-end film and streaming productions already in the Clear Angle client roster.
