The Astana AI Film Festival Foundation has signed a memorandum of cooperation with Beijing Zhongguancun Tongli Technology Service, making China the official partner of the inaugural Astana AI Film Festival (AAIFF 2026). The agreement, announced at the festival's Beijing launch event at Shougang Park alongside the Kazakhstan-China Forum on Innovation in AI Film and Television, establishes a framework for collaboration across AI filmmaking, AI-generated content, science fiction production, investment, and international distribution.

The festival is scheduled to take place in Astana on October 1–3, 2026, as part of Astana AI Week, and is positioning itself as a major international platform for AI-powered film with a $1 million prize fund. Forum participants included representatives from PixVerse AI, the AI Research Institute of China Film Group, Bauhinia Films, and the Zhongguancun Science Fiction Industry Innovation Center, reflecting broad Chinese industry engagement ahead of the debut.
