Blackmagic Design has released version 3.4 of its Blackmagic Camera app for Android, bringing a set of features aimed at making smartphones more viable in professional multi-camera production workflows. The headline additions include 4K HDMI output with audio — enabling connection to external monitors, switchers, or recorders — WearOS companion app control for starting and stopping recording from the wrist, and REST API remote control paired with a new Remote Camera Manager for overseeing multiple Android devices from a central location.

The update also introduces continuous recording pause, which allows operators to pause and resume a shoot without generating a new clip each time, a convenience aimed at interviews, events, and behind-the-scenes work. Further additions include support for Blackmagic Focus and Zoom demands, remote support for the Blackmagic URSA Cine Immersive camera, a new Proxy Clip Manager, PCM audio output, and LUT handling improvements on select Android devices.
