Apple Music announced on August 20 that it will apply AI-generated content labels to tracks produced by Suno, the AI music platform. The policy was communicated to industry partners via a message obtained by Music Business Worldwide.

Rather than taking on the identification work itself, Apple is placing the burden squarely on record companies to flag and tag AI-generated content when submitting music to the platform. The move raises questions about consistency and enforcement, given that compliance depends entirely on labels self-reporting AI involvement in their releases.
