AMD Acquires Fei-Fei Li's World Labs for $8.2 Billion

AMD has agreed to acquire World Labs, the generative 3D and video model startup founded by AI pioneer Fei-Fei Li, in an $8.2 billion deal. The acquisition marks one of the largest AI talent-and-technology bets in recent memory, bringing a leading research team and their spatial intelligence work directly under AMD's roof.

As part of the deal, Fei-Fei Li will join AMD as Executive Vice President and Chief Scientist. World Labs has been developing generative models focused on 3D environments and video, positioning AMD to compete more aggressively in AI infrastructure and generative media workloads.
