Independent animated musical "Plump Blossom," written, produced, and directed by Kap Rossana, is set to become one of the Philippines' first AI-assisted animated feature films when it opens in Philippine cinemas on September 23. Inspired by China's Tang Dynasty, the film follows Princess Ruo Hua and features an original soundtrack performed by singer-actress Paulina Yeung, with a voice cast including Candice Tan, Don Puno, and Audie Gemora.

The production team was emphatic that AI served solely as a production tool rather than a creative driver, with the filmmakers stating that months of writing, directing, editing, and refining were required to complete the film. "AI didn't make this movie. People did," director Kap said, pushing back on the notion that AI enables effortless filmmaking. The project is being positioned as a landmark for Philippine animation while also serving as a pointed case study in human-led, AI-assisted production.
