Adobe has launched a new Generative Media Tool (beta) inside Premiere, adding a dedicated toolbar entry that lets editors drag across empty timeline tracks — video or audio — to trigger a prompt-based generative task bar. From there, editors can generate new video clips or sound effects using a choice of models, including Adobe's own commercially licensed Firefly and third-party options for video generation.
The tool builds on Premiere's existing Generative Extend feature and follows closely behind the recently introduced AI Assistant panel, underscoring Adobe's accelerating push to embed generative AI throughout its editing workflow. Generative audio defaults to Firefly's commercially safe models, while video generation opens up a model-selection step. Adobe has published an FAQ and help documentation alongside the beta rollout.
