Adobe Launches Generative Media Tool in Premiere Pro and AI Expression Assistant in After Effects at IBC 2026

Adobe is shipping a wave of AI-powered features across Premiere Pro and After Effects timed to IBC 2026. The headline addition is the Generative Media Tool in Premiere Pro, which lets editors draw a range on any timeline track, write a text prompt, and generate video or sound effects without leaving the application. The tool supports multiple third-party video models — including Google Veo, Kling, Runway, and Luma alongside Adobe's own Firefly — and automatically matches output to the sequence's resolution and aspect ratio. Credit costs are displayed before generation commits. Two features remain in beta: Generate Music, which uses Firefly Music to produce royalty-free background tracks from a prompt and BPM target, and additional sound-effects refinements.

After Effects is also getting an AI assistant capable of writing expressions on behalf of the user — a notable quality-of-life addition for motion designers who spend significant time authoring or debugging expression code. As with many IBC releases, the update spans both shipping features and ongoing betas, so the full feature set will roll out incrementally.
