# Runway Co-CEO Says AI Will 'Absolutely' Replace Human Actors: 'It's Already Happening in a Way'

_General · published 2026-10-20_

Speaking at a fireside chat titled "Every Pixel Will Be Generated" at Turin's View Conference, Runway co-CEO Cristóbal Valenzuela told the audience that AI will "absolutely" replace human actors — and that the shift is already underway in some contexts. He framed generative AI not as a tool augmenting existing production, but as an entirely new medium.

The remarks are among the most direct public statements from a major generative AI executive on the subject of actor displacement, and are likely to draw significant reaction from performers, unions, and studios still negotiating the boundaries of AI use in production.
