# Lion King Co-Director Rob Minkoff to Executive Produce AI-Animated Family Film Storm Dogs for UK Studio Particle 6

_General · published 2026-10-11_

Rob Minkoff, co-director of Disney's The Lion King and director of Stuart Little, is in advanced discussions to develop and executive produce Storm Dogs for UK-based studio Particle 6. Minkoff will serve as creative lead alongside Particle 6 CEO Eline van der Velden, who originated the concept, developing the story, characters, and screenplay ahead of a planned 2027 production.

Storm Dogs is a family adventure set in an English village, following five dogs who become the unlikely rescuers of a separated two-year-old during a devastating storm. The film will blend live-action with photorealistic AI-animated characters, positioning it as an early test case for AI-driven character animation in mainstream family filmmaking.
