# Insta360 X6 Brings 3D Gaussian Splatting to Consumer 360 Cameras with Spatial Capture

_Tool · published 2026-09-21_

Insta360 unveiled Spatial Capture for the X6 during the opening of its first North American flagship store in Times Square, with a U.S. rollout set for September 28. The feature uses 3D Gaussian Splatting (3DGS) to automatically convert 360 video into freely explorable 3D scenes — no multi-angle capture passes or specialized third-party software required. Support will also extend to the X5 and X4 Air, and users can generate up to four 3DGS scenes per month for free.

The move brings a technique previously confined to professional and commercial pipelines into a consumer workflow. Because the X6 captures every direction simultaneously, it sidesteps the manual coverage problems that have complicated 3DGS capture with conventional cameras. The resulting scenes can be explored from any position and perspective, offering a new way to document and revisit real-world spaces.
