# HDRI Match Plate Brings AI Inpainting and Multi-DCC Calibration to VFX HDRI Workflows

_Tool · published 2026-06-30_

HDRI Match Plate is a production-ready utility targeting lighting TDs, compositors, and VFX artists that physically matches 360° HDRIs to live-action camera plates. The tool handles EV exposure, white balance, and ACEScg color space transforms, and includes automatic Macbeth ColorChecker detection for fast color temperature solving. It supports multi-channel EXR lookdev from path tracers including Arnold, V-Ray, and Karma, and ships with native Nuke integration via a docked panel and live-link that pushes calibration changes directly into the Nuke node graph in real time.

A standout feature is generative AI inpainting powered by local ComfyUI pipelines (Stable Diffusion or Flux) to remove on-set obstacles — tripods, operators, and lighting rigs — from 360° environment maps with spherical projection awareness. Beyond Nuke, the tool exports calibrated HDRIs and USD light metadata to Houdini Solaris via a custom shelf tool, generates native Python scripts for Blender, and is also available as a standalone Windows executable for on-set data wrangling — covering much of a modern VFX pipeline from capture to composite.
