# Dave Clark's AI Studio Promise Aims to Make AI Films Hollywood Can Actually Release

_General · published 2026-07-24_

Filmmaker Dave Clark, cofounder and chief creative officer of Promise, is using generative AI to tackle a persistent Hollywood problem: showing studios what a film can look like before it's financed. Promise's software suite includes Muse, which logs prompts, settings, and approvals, and Copyright Guardian, which screens for potential IP conflicts — together designed to give studios the provenance and legal clarity needed to own, insure, and distribute AI-generated content. Early projects include "Hardcore 94" and "Harlan Coben's Final Twist," developed by blending AI-native artists with experienced filmmakers.

The startup, which counts Fullscreen founder George Strompolos as an early backer, grew out of Clark's commercial directing background and his 2023 experiments posting AI-generated pitch materials to Reddit. Whether Promise can turn that pipeline into a repeatable studio model — and consistently account for the origins of every frame — remains the central unanswered question the company is working to resolve.
