# AI-Native Studios Can Create Original IP While Traditional Studios Keep Their Edge, VFX Veteran Says at Busan

Speaking at the InnoAsia AI Creators Camp during Busan International Film Festival's Asian Contents & Film Market, VFX veteran Hong Jae Cheol argued that small, AI-native companies running automated pipelines are now positioned to develop their own intellectual property — a space traditionally dominated by major studios. Hong, a producer-director at Viscode with credits at Industrial Light & Magic on films including "Iron Man" and "Transformers," framed the shift as moving from AI-generated individual images toward AI embedded in a complete production workflow, while insisting that traditional VFX skills remain essential for tracking, integration, and finishing.

Fellow panelists Mark Wachholz of Dreamkite Studios and director Ahn Jaehong of Climax Studio reinforced the hybrid vision from creative and practical angles, respectively. Wachholz described AI co-creation as "exploring instead of controlling," while Ahn outlined a structured workflow — from prompts and storyboards through to keyframes — that still requires a filmmaker to shape story and visual design. The consensus: AI accelerates and augments multiple production stages, but human creative direction determines how the pieces cohere. As Hong put it, "AI is just a tool; film is a sequence."
